KNOW YOUR OPTIONS FOR TRANSITION LENSES

Transition lenses have been around for a very long time.  Technology has improved significantly over the past several years, and there are several options available to the consumer.

Transitions (a/k/a as photochromic lenses) lenses primarily darken outdoors when activated by direct UV light. That's why they change color outdoors and remain clear indoors.  Most transition lenses do not darken behind the windshield of a car because the windshield blocks UV light.  Temperature also can influence the effectiveness of transition lenses.

There are several types to choose from:

Signature:
*lenses respond only to UV light, which get darker outdoors and return quicker to their original clear state indoors.

X-tra active:
* lenses respond to both UV light and natural (visible, clear or white) light, so they are able to darker behind the windshield of a car.  However, you will always have a hint of tint on your lenses.

Drivewear:
* lenses respond to UV light, natural light and various weather temperatures.  How dark the lens get depends on all these factors.  These lenses are polarized at all times and in all weather conditions.

Vantage:
* polarized lenses that respond only to UV light, which get darker outdoors and return quicker to their original clear state indoors.  Transitions are available in brown, gray and green tints in a variety of lens material.
